The Media Lab, specializing in the teaching and study of new media, was established at the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 1993. This school of the University provides teaching and instruction in areas such as content provision, ‘information design’, interactive narrative, virtual environments and media solutions of the future. Since its inception, Media Lab has operated on the basis of active international cooperation. The English-language MA programme of the Media Lab has 176 students and there are currently 45 postgraduate students working for their doctorates.
