Since 1999, MA textile design students from the University of Art and Design (Taik) in Helsinki, Finland, have entered a course of professional pattern design.
The pattern design course has been a launching point to these young designers to show their talent to textile markets around the world. Every year the group has successfully participated in International textile fairs; Heimtextil in Frankfurt and Indigo in Brussels.
In the year 2008 it was decided that the group of students in this course should have their own identity. Anyone should be able to recognize these students to be the group from this university, Taik, year after year. The student group had a challenging task ahead to create a brand identity for the course. At that point Taik´s graphic design students helped to build a visual concept for the brand.
The brand was named Pattern Lab, because the students work as a team and create patterns to be sold for the textile industry. From now on and in the years to come, the group of MA textile design students in this course will be found under the Pattern Lab brand. Every year the new group will have their own approch to pattern design while the Pattern Lab brand stays the same, as a landmark to be recognized.
We warmly welcome you to visit our stand and meet the designers from Taik in Heimtextil, Frankfurt, from the 14th to the 17th of January 2009, where the KinoHelsinki -pattern collection will be proudly introduced.
