Information for newly accepted exchange students for the spring term 2010.
Acceptance letters spring term 2010
The official acceptance letters for the new exchange students for the spring term 2010 are posted around November 10th 2009.
The letters will include the brief instruction and the certificate for visa application if you are from outside the EU. Visa application can be started when you have got this certificate. When you apply for your student visa for the first time, you will apply at your local Embassy (Consulate) of Finland. You can have the detailed information from them. The handling of a visa application can take about two months. Please buy your flight tickets when your visa is ready.
Housing is mainly arranged through HOAS, the Foundation of Student Housing in the Helsinki Region. www.hoas.fi
Application forms are filled in on the net. If you already know that you have been accepted as exchange students, you can fill in the "application form for exchange student". You do not have to wait for the acceptance letter to reach you.
HOAS allocation for TaiK exchange students:
TaiK has been given 25 flats by HOAS for our exchange students to rent during the academic year 2009-2010. These 25 flats are furnished. We give out these pre-booked flats to rent in the order the exchange students have been accepted to our programmes. You will know from your official acceptance letter whether you are one of these students or not.
All the exchange students have to fill in the "application form for exchange student". Even if you are not one of the first ones, if you want to have a room from HOAS, you fill in the "application form for exchange student". If you get a rejection mail from HOAS by filling in the regular application form, please fill in the application form for exchange student. HOAS will contact you if there come cancellations from the allocation (=pre-booked) flats. The rental agreement for allocation flat is always made either until 31 December or until 31 May.
