Acceptance notifications and the visa application

The official acceptance letters for the new exchange students and the new MA students for the academic year 2010-2011 have been sent to the students and they should arrive shortly. The letters will include a brief instruction and a certificate for the visa application for the students who are coming outside the EU. You should apply for the visa as early as possible. You can start the visa application procedure once you have got the visa certificate which is enclosed in the acceptance letter. When you are applying for the student visa for the first time, you have to apply at your local Embassy (Consulate) of Finland, where they can give more information concerning the visa application procedure. The visa application process can take about two months and it is possible to get a student visa for max. one year. It is advisable to purchase any flight tickets only after a visa application procedure is complete and successful.
