The Aalto University School of Art and Design will continue as the coordinator of the Cumulus network. Cumulus is a non-profit organization of 169 institutions of art, design and media from 43 countries. It is the only one in the world to serve art and design education and research.

It was decided in the General Assembly of Cumulus in Genk Belgium that the Secretariat continues at the Aalto University School of Art and Design until 2016. The work as well will be continued with the team coordinated by the Secretary General of Cumulus, Ms Eija Salmi, the director of international affairs of School of Art and Design, with the support of the coordinator Justyna Maciak.

Professor Raimo Nikkanen was elected to the Cumulus Executive Board for the period of 2010–2013. Mr Nikkanen from the Department of Design has been one of the key persons of Cumulus since 1990, and in 2007–2010 he was also the other vice-president of Cumulus. The Executive Dean Professor Helena Hyvönen strongly supports the operations of Cumulus.

Cumulus members can propose conferences, workshops, projects among members and with industry, business and other partners. Cumulus also offers projects for members.

Next time the Cumulus representatives will meet this autumn in Shanghai where the next Cumulus conference will be held. There will also be an exhibition of student works parallel to the world exhibition. The student exhibition Young Creators for Better City & Better Life is part of Cumulus festivities to celebrate the association`s 20 years.

Cumulus members will meet in Finland in 2012. The Cumulus conference will then be part of the World Design Capital 2012 programme.
